Bare Root Roses, what to look for when buying

The first thing to look for is the plant’s grade. Nearly all bare root roses sold today are grown in the field and are approximetly two years old. They are sold in three main grades. Grade 1 is the best and most expensive grade. In order to obtain this grade the plants are required to have at least three strong cains, two of which must be at least 18 inches in length for hybrid teas anf grandifloras. The canes should be at least 1/8 inch in diameter. Grade 1 1/2 is the most popular grade due to it’s lesser price. In order to obtain this grade the plants are required to have at least two strong canes which must be at least 15 inches long for hybrid teas and grandifloras. The canes should be at least 1/8 inch in diameter. Grade 2 is the least expensive grade. These plants are only required to have two canes 12 inches or longer. These plants can be a gamble as they may be stunted. Note: Measurements are for plants when dug from the fields. Sometimes the plant sellers will shorten the length of the canes for easier handling. The number of canes remain the same and usually the thicker the diameter the better the plant. There are three main sources for buying roses. Nurseries are normally more expensive but are usually the best places to buy your plants. Plants are normally kept in sawdust thereby allowing you to inspect the roots. Plants with badly damaged roots are less likely to do well and may not make it at all. Additionally, a nursery usually carries a large variety of new and old standards. Finally, a good nurseryperson can provide advice as to which plants do best in your area and climate. Mail order suppliers are normally less expensive and usually have a greater variety of plants than your local nursery, however you can not inspect the plants before buying and they sometimes arrive damaged. Furthermore, although most mail order suppliers are reputable a few are disreputable and ship very poor quality plants. Additionally, it is hard and can be expensive to return plants that you are unhappy with. Supermarkets are inexpensive but usually carry a limited variety of plants. Additionally the plants usually come with their roots wrapped in plastic, therefore you are unable to inspect the roots for damage. Plants can be treated roughly in supermarkets, not only by the people that stock them, but also by customers. Therefore, there is a much greater potential for damage. Should you buy newly developed varieties or the old standards? Which variety of plant you purchase depends on your taste and what is available for your climate. There are hundreds of varieties of roses, however I prefer the older time proven standards. They may not come in as many color variations but they are reliable, still come in a large variety of colors and are usually more heavily scented (I like to smell the roses). My two favorites are both red. The Chrysler Imperial is a full well shaped velvety dark crimson red flower with a rich delightful fragrance which grows on a heavily flowering medium height bush. Mister Lincoln has long buds with full open dark rich red fragrant flowers with long stems and grows on a tall bush with dark glossy leaves. Roses, if properly cared for, can last years. Therefore, in order to obtain the most enjoyment from your plants it is a good idea to do your research. Spend some time looking at types, colors, shapes and sizes. Check catalogues, the internet, check out friend’s gardens and if possible go to an arboretum or nursery. Look at and smell the roses before buying. Similarities Between Candle and Soap Making Supplies -

There are a number of similarities in making soap and candles. Both require pouring the raw materials into molds to give them shape. Candles and soap need scents and color as well. Many stores sell both candle and soap making supply kits. Candle and soap-making supply stores are found nationwide and on the Internet. It is easy to find materials for very reasonable prices.

Making soap is similar to making candles. The early steps are alike, in that they both involve melting the materials in order to pour them into a mold to give them shape. While wax or gel is used to make candles, a glycerin compound is usually used for soap. This is normally a mixture of natural vegetable oils, pure water, glycerin, and a soothing moisturizer. Once the raw materials are melted, they are poured into a mold that gives them shape. There are an endless variety of molds available for both soap and candles. Candles and soaps can be molded into a number of designs and shapes. Another difference, besides the materials used, is that soap molds are usually smaller than candle molds.

Also, candles often stay in containers or votives, while soap is always taken out of its mold.

Candles and soaps both benefit from the addition of colors and aromas. There are a number of dyes to give color to soap and candles. It is important to use the correct kind of dye for the soap. Candle dyes could be toxic and create skin rashes or discoloration if used in soap. There are scents that can make candles and soaps more pleasing, tiny bottles of concentrated liquid that give soap or candles an aroma.

Candle and soap-making supply stores have all of the ingredients needed to make either product. It is important to use the materials for their intended uses rather than mixing and matching. The processes of making soap and candles are similar, but they are not identical.

Managing Bronchitis Symptoms and Knowing the Treatment

Inflammation of the respiratory tract that includes the trachea and the bronchus is known as bronchitis. This may be caused by viral or bacterial infection or constant exposure to pollutants (such as smoking and air pollution). There are two kinds, acute and chronic bronchitis. Acute bronchitis usually takes place right after an infection of the upper respiratory tract has occurred like a sinus infection or the common cold. Present A Unity Gift Candle To Loved Ones During Your Wedding Ceremony

Unity gift candles are commonly custom printed to match your personalized unity candle, including design, candle color, ink color, bride’s and groom’s first names, and wedding date. Gift candles are a great way to say thank you to parents, grandparents or other loved ones who are a special part of your wedding day. The unity gift candle symbolizes the union of the bride and groom as two become one. Presenting unity gift candles to parents or other loved ones adds a touching and sentimental moment to your special day. Each gift candle will become a keepsake momento of your wedding day and a reminder of your devotion to one another. There are different ways to incorporate the unity gift candle presentation into your unity candle-lighting ceremony. Here are a few options:

OPTION 1: Present the Unity Gift Candles Before the Unity Candle Ceremony
Prior to the wedding, call or meet with your ceremony officiant to advise him of your intention to present gift candles to your parents(or other loved ones). Ask the officiant if he would say a few words about the purpose of the unity gift candles while you present them to your parents(other loved ones) prior to your unity candle-lighting ceremony.

Sample wording - Officiant: (Name of Bride) and (Name of Groom) will now present their parents with a unity gift candle to symbolize their union - two shall become one as they join together as husband and wife.

Place your gift candles near the unity candle, when decorating for the wedding ceremony. Once the unity candle-lighting ceremony is about to begin, the bride and groom should each take a single unity gift candle and present it to their parents. This can be done simultaneously or the bride can present her gift candle to her parents first, followed by the groom’s presentation to his parent’s. Another option is to have the groom present a candle to the bride’s parents and the bride present a candle to the groom’s parents. Any additional gift candles, for other family members or friends, should be presented to loved ones after the parents and/or grandparents have received their gift candles.

OPTION 2: Present the Unity Gift Candles After the Unity Candle Ceremony
Prior to the wedding, call or meet with your ceremony officiant to advise him of your intention to present gift candles to your parents(or other loved ones). Ask the officiant if he would say a few words about the purpose of the unity gift candles while you present them to your parents(or other loved ones) immediately following your unity candle-lighting ceremony.

Sample wording - Officiant: As (Name of Bride) and (Name of Groom) have symbolized their union by lighting the unity candle, they will now present their parents with a unity gift candle to symbolize their love and commitment to each other as they join together as husband and wife.

Follow the steps outlined in Option 1 above regarding the placement of the unity gift candles and the order in which each candle should be presented. If you will be having a pianist, organist or disc jockey play music throughout your wedding ceremony, you may also consider having them play a portion of special song during your gift candle presentation. The music may be played softly while the officiant says a few words about your presentation, or you may wish to have only music playing during your presentation. The most important thing is to personalize your gift candle presentation according to what you feel is most appropriate and special for you and your gift recipients.
